Here’s a list of things kids have said to me. I’ll try to update it periodically. Hopefully they’re not all had-to-be-there moments. Most of them were said in Japanese and translated by me.  English mispronunciations will be expressed in italics.

My first-year junior high school students just learned “I like…” Here’s one child’s homework:
I like volleyball.
I like swimming ball. (…swimming ball?  Could be a real thing, I guess)
I like badminton ball. (Uhhh… I know nothing about badminton.  I still want to give her the benefit of the doubt)
I like English ball. (Ok, shut it down)

Another one:
(fill in the blank)
A: I like cake.
B: Really? I like onions!
(I’ve never met anyone that liked onions enough to express it, let alone compare it to cake)

Students: Mr. Daniel, what kind of woman do you prefer? Bon-kyu-bon? bon-kyu-kyu? Kyu-kyu-kyu?
Me: What?
Then they proceeded…
