Susie Lindau is one of my favorite bloggers. She’s fun, sassy, adventurous and someday, I’m really going to head out to my favorite state, Colorado, and grab a few Avalanche beers with her and her hubby Danny, and hit the slopes.
Roam About is a relatively silly place, but today, I’d like to take a knee in the name of seriousness. Cancer is an asshole – it has taken away some beloved people in my life – probably the case for majority of people reading. My grandma S. was a breast cancer survivor. At work, we sponsor a breast cancer survivor rowing team whom I had the honor of spending a day with not too long ago…
Susie posted this the other day: The Boob Report
She let her followers know she has stage 1 breast cancer, and is having surgery today (Friday). Her preemptive post emulates her perpetual positive spirit; she’s a survivor (already); a badass – Susie strong like bull.
I’m not a sappy person (at all, really), but this whole blogging thing has introduced me to some great people – people I would, as aforementioned, hang out with given the opportunity. Some of you remind me so much of my own friends and family, it’s like a fucked up cyber extended fam/community thing, and I love it.
So, instead of wearing a pink ribbon, or capitalizing on the “pink movement” like the NFL, I just ask that you head over to Susie’s Wild Ride today, and tell her she’s in your thoughts.

Cancer *is* a bitch. It’s taken my grandmother and tons of other people I know. I also know what you mean about the awesome blogging community. I’ve met so many amazing people! Will definitely keep Susie in my thoughts and check out her site! Thanks for letting us know!

I can’t type long or it begins to hurt. I think a few more days and I’ll really be back.
This post made me laugh and cry when I read it. I had to stop reading them because crying and laughing really hurts when you’re all stitched up like a cadaver in a CSI Miami show.
I believe my prognosis is great because of you and others that posted last Friday. I could really feel all the prayers and positive energy before I even knew this was going on!
I will be eternally grateful, so at least come out for a few runs on the slopes and grab an Avalanche with Danny and me.
